There are so many things we don't think of, and the young ones either never knew, nor cared enough to find out about the World War II folks and the sacrifices they made...

Military life, and injuries and death
Kids orphaned, and wives widowed
food rationing
black curtains on windows
gas rationing
men and women working many times 3 shifts in a row, several times a week....
