The images of those planes and towers are still fresh, and we'll see reruns of them for sure ... they form good reason for rooting out terrorism though doing so will certainly have a cost ... no such reason existed for US involvement in, for example, Viet Nam, so a parallel in re video-inspired squeamishness is less likely imho ... i would expect that the cost ratchetting up would have the effect of firming resolve to deal with the problem ..... though there may come criticism of tactics

I agree, I think having cameras on the front lines is a bad thing, unless it's done the way it was in WW2. (Army comabt photographers)

Newspeople don't care who gets hurt, or whose life is put in danger, as long as they can get their story for prime time.

And being on the front lines for them is "the fast track to the top" in their careers.
