The Federal Government is charged in the Constitution to protect American citizens. The failure was the failure of the government. The only question to ask is why did the failure occur. What practices lead to the failure to see and detect the threat. It is not the business of business to be responsible beyond some reasonable level. Tremendous money and effort were wasted by the federal Government and the priorities were screwed up. You should send a letter to mr. gore about why he decided to do nothing about airport security then received 600 grand in contributions from the airlines. I don't fault any business for expressing an opinion and thanks. Sludge gore was the person responsible for making the decision. OH he's dishonest and can be bought. tom watson tosiwmee

Dear Karen: No, you are correct. The airlines did not want to beef up security, it was a COST and also passenger inconvenience issue. BUT, the point is GORE SOLD OUT to these people after they contributed $600k to the 1996 Clinton/Gore campaign. I saw the letter myself on the Orielly show on Fox. Also a member of the committee said the same thing on his show. A lot of time, effort and probably money was spent by this committee and NOTHING came of it. None of their recommendations were implemented. As a result, not only did 6,000+ people lose their lives but the Fed'l govt had to bail out the airlines BIG TIME and I bet this is JUST THE BEGINNING. I wish every American would have seen that show, the facts are irrefutable. jdn
