That's got to be bad data, a self-selecting sample group, a small sample size, something like that. Sentiment is most definitely NOT improving

Jacob, I am not an AAII member but I got the information from a secondary source that I believe to be accurate. If there is an AAII member here, they can go to the web site and verify it for us.

My only explanation (from what little I know about AAII) is that they advocate a fundamental model for analysing individual stocks and if prices deteriorate faster than earnings, sales and other lagged data, they may very well become more bullish.

The AAII surveys individuals on its Web site each week. AAII asks participants where they think the stock market will be in six months. Only subscribers to AAII are eligible to vote, and they can vote only once during the survey period.

Sam

AAII sentiment survey results confirmed by Barrons:

Dow Jones Newswire 9/29/01
BARRON'S: Investor Sentiment Readings

In Investors Intelligence's poll, the correction figure represents advisers who are basically bullish, but are looking for some sort of short-term weakness. High bullish readings in that poll, in Consensus Inc., or in Market Vane's usually are signs of market tops; low ones, market bottoms.
