Maurice, there is no freedom if no one is willing to defend freedom.

In my entire adult life, I've never struck another individual. Not even spanked a child. But I have no difficulty envisioning situations where I would be perfectly willing to "go through" a pacifist of dubious stripe in order to defend a greater good, if that pacifist insists on placing himself in the way of that defense. There's nothing more inherently sacred about pacifists than anyone else. As I said earlier, many people are professed pacifists as much out of ego as anything else. I'm convinced of that. It's an easy, risk-free kind of sainthood for many of them, particularly in this country.
