I remember. I recall how the Republicans beat up on the Clinton's from their first days in the White House
and the US Press eagerly followed. It was peanuts considered with some of the stuff that Bush
has pulled off.

Bush has filled his posts with insiders from the energy companies and other companies. O'Neill wouldn't
even sell his Alcoa stock until last summer. Just think if that had been Hillary!!!! And Cheney won't
release the names of the corporate insiders who were on his Energy Committee. They flaunt Justice
in the face of Americans.

I've mentioned b4 that my husband and I knew very little about the Clintons, but we complained to each other many times,
that we wished the Press would just shut up and "let the man get on with his job."

Now, we learn more recently that it wasn't just the press and late night tv comics who like to poke fun at
the Clintons. I never watch these comics. Fortunately!!!. But there was a right-wing conspiracy to bring down the Clintons . Was there not? And wasn't Theodore Olson, the Solicitor General involved?

I've been trying to recall why there way people were outraged at his appointment but wasn't that the reason?
And no one in the government made an issue of it.

Pat introduced a terrific subjects for debate!!

1) FREEDOM OF THE PRESS
2) HOW ACCURATE IS THE INFORMATION THAT WE READ
3) INFLUENCE OF THE PRESS

and

4) INFLUENCE OF THE RIGHT-WING CONSERVATIVES AND THEIR ORGANIZED ATTEMPT TO
OVERTHROW THE CLINTON ADMINISTRATION.

There is also room for Complaints about the Democrats in Congress:

I don't understand why Congressional members of the Democratic party waltz hand-in-hand
with Bush's shenanigans. I hear Democrats withdraw from the Congressional elections next fall.. Maybe, that is a good thing. If they don't have the stomach to run for the atrocities committed by the Bush administration, we
don't need them.

We DO need people to run for office who are strong willed and who are not afraid.

Suppose Gore handled it exactly the same way as Bush
I have a hard time thinking Gore would have overreacted as badly as Bush thereby handing the victory to the terrorists. Bush's thoughtless Crusade and Jingo statements have cost a trillion dollars in market capitalization not to mention emboldending the terrorist network. Even if Bush had been more experience I don't think he has the intellectual capacity to make quick and good decisions.
