Personally, I think they're past the point of no return. Even though I don't think the deal was a good idea (mostly because I expect the cultures to clash), not doing it now is an even worse idea. The only way I think they could extract themselves without major harm is by somehow causing the FTC to oppose the deal, thereby giving them cover to pull out.

But that's JMHO.
