Dear Tench:

ROTFLMAO is what I do when someone says that a 2GHz P4 would beat any Athlon slower than 2GHz. I do the same with "Netburst". Just like most would do with a person with a front wheel driven car having a 2000HP 10Liter engine in the very back saying that it must be a great dragster. When tested against a 200HP pickup, his car smokes his tires continuously. The pickup driver waves "bye, bye" as he wins easily. Yeah, "lots of power" in a "very poor design".

Or a speed race where one has a 6000rpm 1 liter engine with a 6.25 final total gear ratio and the other a 4000rpm 2 liter engine with a 3.08 final total gear ratio. Who will win a 100 mile nearly straight course? Why the one with the 4000rpm engine since he can go the fastest (about 90MPH for the first and about 120MPH for the second). The race does not always go to the highest rpm engine. Just think of who would win with two normally aspirated engines a 10000rpm Geo Metro (1.3 liters) or a 7000rpm Corvette (5.7 liters)?
