The higher performance of a P4 system with the faster RDRAM is not a problem for AMD. AMD will just change the quantispeed conversion factor for the Athlon to increase the performance.

Voila, performance delivered. No need for messy design or process changes. That is one of the beauties of the quantispeed scheme.

AMD can also find some benchmarks that favor the Athlon and that don't use high memory bandwidth. Oh wait, they have already done that.
