re: GSM coverage in North America

<< could you double check the link you provided Ilmarinen. I can't get it to work. >>

That is kind of weird.

I accessed the site for The North American GSM Alliance & North American GSM Alliance (GSMNA) with the coverage map yesterday using the URL for the site that I have had bookmarked sine its inception in 1995.

I now can not access it either.

When you called my attention to this I still had the window open for the PDF file containing the coverage map:

gsm-pcs.org

I did notice the site has a brand new look.

I suspect that either the site is down, or possibly the URL has changed and isn't auto redirecting.

For now it is a mystery ... one I intend to solve. <g>

Sprint PCS ... Are you certain of this?

Yes.

To a certain degree, same was true for PCS PrimeCo (now part of Verizon), whose President (George Schmidt) resigned as a result of the decision immediately after it was made. PCS PrimeCo, however, was a consortium of "B Carrier" RBOCs, several of whom had already committed to CDMA for the 800 MHz properties so it could be said that the decision was a combination of financing and a technology choice.
