Follow up on my recession poll post. My original comment was: "But what I find amazing JAPG is that a recent poll showed that 50% of Americans believe we are GOING INTO a recession. Think about that. It indicates that many of those 50% probably don't believe we are already IN a recession. And, more importantly, the other 50% must believe we are NOT GOING TO ENTER ONE". Followed by yours: It is possible (not likely, though) the other 50% believe we are already in one, as opposed to going into one. In that case, the survey is consistent with reality. :) IMO it means that the other 50% don't get it yet, and may not believe we are in a recession until after it is officially announced by the government and then pasted prominently on the cover of the major newspapers and magazines.
