According to today's Jerusalem Post, this last cease-fire has already gone the way of all the others.

The Palestinians have no understanding of political realities outside the West Bank and Gaza, that's plain. The intifada has hardened every position. If they had a working government that could react to events, they wouldn't be in this position to begin with. Arafat might convince Hamas et. al. not to launch any suicide bomb attempts, but even that I doubt.

We need both Israel and our Arab allies now - we can't afford to lose either of them. Right now we are putting pressure on bin Laden, but he's pushing back really hard, and Palestine is one of the places he can push the hardest.
