To: Selectric II who wrote (1888 ) 9/29/2001 11:57:46 PM From: Hawkmoon Respond to of 281500 Thanks... and one more point I wanted to make while my movie's on a commercial.. :0) Right now the US and the entire world is feeling vulnerable to these attacks and the potential for even more grievous attacks using WMDs which could result in MILLIONS of deaths, not just a few thousand. And that vulnerability has bred fear of the unknown and cause us to hunker down, seriously disrupting our lives and the economic decisions we make. Now unless our global leadership can convince the world that we're getting the upper hand on these terrorist networks, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY purging the world of the very ideals that permit such evils to be perpetrated upon innocent civilians, our economy will continue to suffer. This is a war of ideals... a war between those who, rather than working to better the economic lives of their own people, have chosen to destroy the economic lives of those who have achieved more than they. These attacks are the desperate actions of those who believe that for their ideals to prosper, they must destroy any competition to those ideals, no matter what the cost. That's what is at stake right now... And that's why we can't just view this attack on the WTC as an anomaly, or a random event unlikely to be repeated. Because it will HAVE TO BE REPEATED on a grander scale for the enemy to gain the upper hand. They have escalated this war of ideals and cultures to one of conflict, and not just hostile words and threats. And if we let them crawl back into their holes, without utterly eliminating or neutralizing those who advance these ideals, they will regroup and gather additional strength and momentum as a result of our inaction and indecision.
