The only things discussed over there now are valuation, market timing, and recriminations.

Seems to me that the discussion of market timing is centered on valuation, and the valuation discussions are focused on G&K candidates. This is a natural place for the thread to be since AFAIK none of our candidates are advancing along the TALC with any significance, the economic environment is not conducive to emergence of new candidates (capital is hard to come by), and all tornadoes have come to a screeching halt. IMHO, one of the most productive things we can do under these circumstances is to improve upon the philosophy of G&K itself. Since the fundamental concepts like TALC appear to be sound we are attempting to improve upon one of the manual's apparent weaknesses -- the notion that valuation does not matter for gorillas. Seems to me that we're going as strong as ever. Think of it as a business. The focus of management is different when they're managing hypergrowth than when they're doing all they can to stay afloat. Each situation has different demands, different concerns, different techniques, but the same goal - growth of profitability. If you really think G&K is closed for business, I suggest an experiment. Nominate a company for a Project Hunt. If you can't think of a good candidate, perhaps suggest that we revamp the Project Hunt format to include some valuation discussion and apply the new format to an old candidate. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

recriminations

This article is making a lot of sense to me right now.
