re: "Terrorism tends to be an anomoly...The Soviet Union only overlaps in one of these areas..."

I understand that you are expressing your opinion, but your opinion is meaningless when facts are contrary to your statements.

"The KGB directed terrorists across the world supporting national liberation movements, training and indoctrinating personnel from Asia, Africa, Middle East, Latin America. They were taught how to use weapons, explosives, spread disinformation, carry out assassinations, terrorist activities. This is all in the past..." - Oleg Kalugin retired Major General KGB, interviewed by CNN.

"...history is not pretty, but it is absorbing. The range of the KGB's enterprise revealed in his notes is astonishing...The KGB supplied arms to the Irish Republican Army in the 1970's, and once tried to get Palestinian Terrorist to kidnap a CIA official in Beiruit. Soviet intelligence spread the charge that U.S. germ warfare scientists cooked up the AIDS virus, and later that rich Americans were buying Third World babies to dismember them for organs. It ordered its agents in New York to use bombs to heighten racial tensions in New York City." - Time Magazine article about The Mitrokhin Archive (Mitrikhin is a former KGB officer in charge of checking and moving 300,000 files kept by the KGB's foreign intelligence service)
