The battle is over, industry chose DDR. I'd like some links if you don't mind. But before you conclude from this that RDRAM is the memory of the future, you should look at what the industry as a whole is doing. Well, that's probably beyond your abilities, so why don't you just look at what Samsung is doing in DDR: Yes, but Intel is the industry. Once AMD goes back to 10% share, DDR probably won't have enough volume to compete. If history is any guide, industries like one standard.boards.fool.com I asked the compaq rep what soft of mix there would be with AMD pc's going forward and he said all the current retail lines will be going to P4 and the only AMD system will be on the custom configure KIOSKs. I find this a bad sign if true. He said this doesn't mean they are dropping AMD, but rather firming thier relationship with Intel. AMD lost Gateway. They lost IBM in North America and Europe. They are shutting down Fabs. Compaq is rumored to drop AMD AMD doesn't and never had a chance with Dell. The PS/2 will use RDRAM chips for a couple more years, but the P4 looks to be converted to DDR by around 12 or 18 months from now. Take a look at the number of DDR chipsets under development for the P4, and compare it to the number of RDRAM chipsets:users.erols.com ; Yes, but who has the most market share when it comes to P4 chipsets? Intel. Who owns and controls the p4? Intel. I'd be more interested in what Intel is doing. Not ALi or OPTi. Whoever they are.. It's like saying, CDMA is doomed, because everyone is getting out of the CDMA ASIC market. The reason everyone got out (Motorola, Intel, Ti) is because they simply couldn't make CDMA ASIC and compete with Qualcomm. Not because it didn't offer any potential. Crap, look how many pet food web sites were on the internet. Does that indicate this is a good industry to be in? Did you notice how telecom carriers went into major debt, because profits from selling broadband would just be huge? p.s. Bilow i think you should join or at least post once or twice on the fool rmbs board. Many of the rmbs bears over there are weak.
