Sudan and OPEC
Sudan, Economics, 10/3/2001

The Sudanese minister of energy and melting Awad Ahmad al-Jaz stated that accepting Sudan as an observer member in OPEC will avail it the chance to further benefit from the available supplies in the area.

In a statement following his arrival back from Vienna on Monday evening where he took part in the OPEC's conference which was held there, al-Jaz added that Sudan's participation for the first time as an observer was an opportunity to acquaint with Sudan's abundant resources.

He explained that several international companies showed desire to invest in Sudan in oil fields, including American companies.
