But either is both helpful and necessary. Any attempt to shy away from engagement is the sign of a belief system unworthy of faith." Mitch What engagement have we engaged in other than conjecture about what you believe events to be historically 2000 years ago and my belief in a God of love who sent a Son conceived by the Holy Spirit who was sinless in order to die for the sins of humanity even though his own rejected him? How many of us could say, "God forgive them for they know not what they do?" The Old Testament continuously pointed toward this one event in our lives using prophesy, poetry and symbolism. I believe that Jesus was the God/Man testified of and I have based my life on that fact because of more than historical evidence but in what he has done for me and the power contained in His Word. You have thus far refused to talk about the spiritual nature of man and only talked about history. God is spirit and is to be worshipped in spirit. I cannot expect you to talk on the man Christ because you do not know Him in truth and spirit. Unless you are touched by His grace then of course you are unable to talk with me on a level that I know because God has placed it in my heart. Jeremiah 33 says, "3Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." And after jousting with you and feeling spiritually depleted I went to God's Word and was refreshed when He directed me to this verse in His Word.Proverbs 3 "5Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." I then read a bit more and found assuredness and completness in His promises. Proverbs 3"7Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. 8It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. 9Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: 10So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. 11My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction: 12For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. 13Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. 14For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. 15She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. 16Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour. 17Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. 18She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her. 19The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens. 20By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew. 21My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion: 22So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck. 23Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble. 24When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. 25Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh. 26For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken." How many can then sleep the sleep of comfort knowing that God is watching over us. Should I end up in the pit of hell or in the deepest ocean, I am not alone, because he is with me and is mu source of comfort. Our discussions are not fruitful because you know not the spiritual nature of God within your heart. Your truth that you seek is unfruitful, because one who is an intellectual has the truth hidden from him. God will blind you to the truth unless you seek him with contriteness of heart. Your uncle was a great man and is now receiving his rewards in Heaven. I would love to leave this earth having accomplished a small part of what he accomplished through God for others. If I were a relative of his and had the knowledge that you have, then I would attempt to discover what drove this God fearing person to give of himself in service to others. I already know and sincerely hope that someday you will also know. To be in the service of the Lord is not a duty but a joy that returns blessings many times over. To also be corrected by the Lord is to know that you are being disiplined as a Son and not a sinner. All my best to you, Santiago
