We don't shoot first, but we do shoot back, and we don't back down. America is the land of the free because it is the home of the brave. Instead of bowing to kings, we bow to no one. We have never lived under a military dictatorship because we won't allow one to take over. The power rests in the people, not the government. The people are very antagonistic to those who would infringe on their liberties. As Thomas Jefferson said, "The Tree of Liberty must be refreshed, from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants." If the citizens of other countries were as violent and militaristic as ours are about preserving their own individual liberties, I think the world would be a more peaceful place.
