If I post an article espousing a position with which I substantially disagree, but think is interesting or elucidating in some way, I tend to say that I don't agree but think such and such is an interesting point.

If it's an articulation of a position of mine, I might just post it, or post it saying "This is a great piece," or something along those lines.

absolutely right right on the mark IMO. Thanks E.

E, Hawkmoon, and FL,

Hmmmm. I asked <<Where's the beef?>> and for an answer seem to have gotten *a* beef instead. Or at least my query appears to have been interpreted as a beef of mine about casual copypasting of too many lengthy articles in lieu of substantive personal interaction and discourse.

Well, if I actually do have a big beef with copypasting pertinent articles perhaps it was foolish of me to post the very long news story about the well meaning but slightly goofy Dr. Katz decrying our voluntary surrender of freedom in the name of security.

I suppose what started this "beef" thing in my mind was an Australian sourced article E posted #reply-16431468 about a dozen terrorists disguised as pilots sitting in the cockpit jump seats of of U.S Airliners on the apron waiting in line for takeoff on the morning of 9-11. I was absolutely stunned. And more so when E got no response to the post.

The importance of E's posting cannot be overstated because I don't recall ever reading or hearing that story from any other source. Especially from any domestic news organization. I'd like to know if anyone here saw another source for that story. If not, then what's the meaning of that? Is it possible that our news media self censoring to that degree? Or, was it broadcast all over and I just didn't chance to hear or read it?

As a true blue Jeffersonian I was taught to be suspicious of government and I'm genuinely dismayed that a sizable portion of our government has gone black bag covert. And maybe the news media is doing extra news filtering too and not telling us about those dozen terrorists in pilot's uniforms.

Right now there are Nebraska National Guard troops at Epply Airfield here in Omaha, but none at the Ft. Calhoun nuclear power plant 17 miles north. Anybody else hear the sound of doors slamming on empty barns and see horses in the pasture?

Jerry in Omaha

PS My only substantial beef, I suppose, about article copypasting would be with those individuals who try to copy directly from web pages without first copying to another application to strip the formatting. I don't know if it happens to everybody but trying to read staggered line breaks is frustrating and fatiguing, especially on this, one of SI's *Hottest* threads.
