I'd like to be eternally optimistic, but experience shows that to make a nickel a buyer must at some point become a seller, unless the issue pays a heck of a dividend.

Very good point. I know of an investor who put in $20,000 in MO in 1984, and the income from dividends alone is now over $20,000 a year! I don't think he will be willing to sell MO anytime soon. And if he wants to, he can get over $300,000.

That is what I call investing -- not chasing companies that are supposed to be valued on "pro forma" earnings. But if you choose to do it, you should be a trader. I agree with you.
