With anecdotal reports of improved inventories and stabilizing expansion plans within the industry, it appears the industry was reaching a bottom in the current cycle toward the end of the third quarter. Now with a renewed, economy-wide slowdown in capital spending occurring, another quarter of downward sales is likely."
