HJ, re PWN, just stay away from the ones that specialize in "payday loans". Legalized loan sharks. They may be very profitable, but talk about exploitation of the poor...

Check cashing isn't much better in some cases, but the attention it gets from the Street will likely result in more competition and maybe tighter margins.

BTW, Kroger has been installing check cashing machines in some of their stores. Big and growing industry, serving those that all the "arrogant prick" bankers won't touch. ;-)

Pawn shops are doing well. Anyone with thoughts on Ebay valuation? Their business is terrific too. They will turn a tidy profit.
