I guess it depends on the attack the US and friends launch, but this isn't the same type of campaign. In Afghanistan, the war certainly will be different, but the more I read, the more stories I see of perhaps our gov't steering the war back towards Iraq in addition to the rocks, sand and mountains where bin Laden is hiding. I read a few headlines today claiming Sadam was teaching the Al Qaeda terrorists how to use nukes and other weapons of mass destruction. War in Afghanistan will certainly consist of covert operations, but the public wants to see things blown up. We want pictures of our smart bombs blowing up strategic targets. Blowing up a pile of gravel does not impress us. We want evidence that something is being done to prevent the spread of chemical and biological attacks on the homefront. There is a run on the market of gas masks in this country. It's second to that of the rush to buy American flags. House frows are watching the tube all day wondering when Antrax, Small Pox, and other bad stuff is going to make it's way to their lovely suburban neighborhood. These terrorists are winning the war right now. I'm a football coach for my 5 year old's team and my wife is a soccer mom sitting on the sidelines each Saturday for my 4 year old. All we hear is about the fear of that these scumbags have instilled in us. People are panicked. Scared of the unknown. Hearing noises in the dark. Looking over their shoulder. Waiting 2-3 hours to get on an airplane we are frightened to fly on. Getting our ID checked every time we go through a toll bridge near a major city. Mothers are frightened. We need to see Iraq obliterated with Sadam, his army and his higher ups taken out of power. Put it on TV for us. Make us feel like something is being done right now. It's not necessarily my opinion. More like public opinion. We also need to drop humanitarian aid (food, medicine, etc.) with each bomb we drop. Make us feel like we are helping the innocent people over there. I don't see how the markets can turn up unless we some results that may help us think that the threat of terrorism is reduced. Market? What market? We will all be buying gold, stock piling canned goods, building bomb shelters and gas masks, and living in fear. I don't think our gov't will let this happen. The fear will be allowed to go only far enough to keep public approval as high as possible, and to allow the gov't intervene with our lives more than we would normally have allowed them to. But then again I'm a self proclaimed jackass and am probably way off base... -SchwartsCough P.S. I know this does not answer your question. Sorry about that. My fingers started typing and I could not get them to stop... My guess is that the market will drop as long as there is an over abundance of fear. ...and Dow P/E's of 25-30... -ng -g
