Gilbert, That diversification is the slow averaging out of the French into the general North American pool of people. This can take a long long time, but it is accelerated by modern communications as well as travel freedoms.
In the 1300's in Europe and the UK very few people travelled more than 30 miles from home in their life and small ethnic groups occurred in many places, that differed in accent of the language as well as different languages.
In the UK this has almost totally averaged out and I can understand any speaker from anyplace in the UK.
100 years ago these accents were so pronounced that if you travelled far you could not understand people who spoke the same writted lingo.

Same in Quebec English still penetrates. Young french people are more fluent in English than their parents....that is why so many move to get jobs here and there.
Many English do not get bilingual in the same way so few penetrate into Quebec and take jobs there, but some business owners do.
In any event I am not angry with French at all, I just accept them as they are and when I go there I try my best to get by and they are usually very helpful..

Bill
