Rumor has it two days after sending this rah-rah email to employees, travel industry site Qpax.com closed their doors, laid everyone off, no warning, no severance, no shit, no nothing. To: All Subject: Let's all work together. All, What a week it has been for us all - the emotional drain of the terrorist attacks, the confusion throughout the country and then on a local scale, the 'confusion' through the office regarding future funding of Qpax. With everyone emotionally drained from the larger issue it is understandable that 'rumors' of future funding issues may have become 'overheated' and out of context. I would like to clarify these issues. Just as the dust is settling in New York and people step back, assess the situation, so we do the same at Qpax and we see as the dust settles that: - We have re-affirmed our relationship with (...) and look forward to developing the next Phase with them. We hope to finalize and announce details of Phase II shortly. - We have just executed an agreement with (...) in relation to being the principal for their FAA Flight Alerts. Qpax will use (...) to deliver the SMS gateway message for our FAA flight alerts - We have set in place the time frame for the next milestone payments and funding from (...) over the next two months. - I have had very positive meetings with VC's in New York, one as recent as yesterday which looks to have a very positive direction, notwithstanding the market concerns on Wall St. - The Directors of the Company are today working on future strategies for the company to ensure it is positioned to maximize the potential of the technology we have developed. - As the tragedy of last week brought people together in New York and fused them to a common cause, so too may we must all at Qpax have the same spirit and work as a team focused towards a positive future. As on a national level, if we all pull together in Qpax we can achieve. I am proud of what we have achieved to date, it is credit to you all, and a reflection of your professionalism that even through troubled times we can get on with the job, like this country is doing nationally.
