Ha'aretz's editorial niche is intelligent moderate left. First-rate paper in general. And the range of debate among Israelis is broader than that among American Jews, so its op-eds are by no means all pushing the same line. It's also worth glancing at the Jerusalem Post (the other major English-language Israeli paper) once in a while too, for a more conservative/hawkish line--sort of like looking at the WSJ in addition to the Times.

I agree. I was trying to point out, very mildly, that Haaretz (or any of Israel's newspapers, for that matter) does not deserve to be mentioned in the same breath with the government controlled papers that are the rule in all Arab countries.
