My understanding, kumar, was that all Arab media was more or less state controlled (with the almost exception of Al Jazeera in Qatar). Certainly Al Hayat Al Jadida (PA) or Al Ahram (Egypt) don't post criticisms of the government. I'm going on second hand evidence, though, so I'm willing to be corrected.

The reporting there at that time was comparable to what I find in USA Today, these days.

Um, is this an insult or a compliment?
