Brits giving Taliban one final chance to back down. Today in NY Times leak about a comprehensive mideast peace proposal to be made by Powell which is mentioned below as well. US will probably be guaranteeor of that peace. Also intelligence regarding bin ladins complicity is being shared with Pakistan and others. I know some might take offense at my next comment but as a survivor (in some sense) of the attack I will not be happy until the terrorists are attacked. Without american resolve and power no peace can happen. Those who harbor terrorist must make a choice and if the US pussy foots around, their choice will made for the bad guys. Also right now the terrorists are claiming the US lacks the will to act and particularly to take casualties. They too must be disabused of this notion. Cruise missiles alone will not do it. mike Words of warning October 2, 2001 Posted: 8:16 a.m. EDT (1216 GMT) (CNN) -- British Prime Minister Tony Blair will issue a stark warning to Afghanistan's ruling Taliban today, telling them that time has run out to avoid U.S.-led military strikes. U.S. officials have told CNN that drafts of a major policy speech on the Middle East, to be delivered by U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell, are circulating in the State Department for review. "It will go farther than we have ever gone," one official said. "There is an awful lot more that we view as being the end result than what we have said so far." (Full story) Also Tuesday, diplomatic sources tell CNN that the U.S. ambassador to Pakistan met with Pakistan's president, and provided evidence the United States says links Islamic militant Osama bin Laden and his al Qaeda network to the September 11 terrorist attacks. The 90-minute briefing is one of many the Bush administration has scheduled with its closest allies, to share the details of its case against the man it believes is the terrorist mastermind in the acts that killed about 6,000 people in New York and Washington.
