I appreciate your thoughtful response. If I understand you correctly, I think the gist of what you are saying is that if one starts with the premise that people need to accept some set of supernatural beliefs on faith, then reason and evidence are to be used to select which set of beliefs to accept.

I would think this way of trying to reconcile reason and faith is fairly common -- at least in the western world -- and certainly seems less dangerous than a purely "blind" faith based on what one happens to have been taught. I appreciate that you have chosen a peaceful set of beliefs (I presume) even though I don't share in those beliefs. I still believe that, as a general rule, faith and force go hand-in-hand and that is my main concern.
