Krugerrands are the world's most widely held gold bullion coins.More Krugerrands (46 million ounces) have been circulated worldwide than all other gold bullion coins combined.

I like the Krugerrand because it has the lowest buy premium -- jeffinc.com for example is sometimes one percent over "melt" (if "melt" isn't the same as "spot", it's close enough for me) -- and the lowest spread between buy and sell of about two percent.

I believe they are the most liquid as well.
