JQP,

Nice work on TMR, btw.

"By the time they could be pulled off the guy was nearly dead, quite literally."

As fellow workers walked away from the half dead guy, a couple were heard to mutter, "That guy just got what he deserved for his public policy statements."

You know, freedom of speech means you should be able to have an opinion and express it without the government harassing you, jailing you. It doesn't necessarily act as an ironclad protection against local reaction to what you might have to say. Freedom of speech might mean that you should be able to say, for example, that you believe all Mexicans to be lazy and stupid as a genetic inheritance, without being thrown in jail. On the other hand, it doesn't mean it's a good idea to say so in a local bar in Laredo or Las Cruces or certain neighborhoods of L.A.

Of course, you have legal recourse if you are spat upon, beat up, assaulted, etc.

Regards on a slow day,

Kb
