Progress report re my computer problem. Tried the HD on another machine and it seems to work. I'm running a virus scan just to be sure but if it is still ok tomorrow I must believe that the problem was elsewhere. Perhaps power supply mother board or memory.

My next request is for help in transferring programs and data to a new computer with WinXP on it. My thinking is to install the old HD as a slave and then copy over to a partition on the new and take it from there. I am not sure if I can partition the new as I have Partition Magic 6.0 but bought a download so do not have disks.

Assuming that I am successful, how should I partition the new drive (40) I'll need about 20 for the old stuff until I can clean it out so what size for OS, Programs, files, backup, etc.

Thanks in advance.
