Motorola had, still has, this wonderful DSP design.

But, for whatever reasons one can imagine, because, started
to use the evil TI DSP, many moons go, since.

AT&T,Lucent also had this fantastic design, from the
depths of the, because, Bell Lab, Nokia used it around the
90-turn of the decades, a true art to code efficiently,
since months could be spent on the same 16 instructions,
because fantastic architecture.

Infineon is slightly more complex, but somewhat along
the same lines.

And every year either one has declared the TI architecture
inefficient, obsolete,etc,etc...

Slightly frustrated with the slow improvements of the TI
architecture, tools, etc I have been declined to do the
same, even for ADI, a minor player, not to forget NEC and
Hitachi.

The difference is obviously in the capabilty to design,
implement and deliver, not just write fancy specs and
promises.

Obviously, the day there is this fantastic, yet to be
implemented, crosscompiler from platform to platform,
none of these would be an issue, just a matter of
the compiler compiling:

AirInterface::Do_GSM(R99) ;

Except that one still need to keep regular fab allocations,
delivieries, logistics in mind.
