I still don't accept blindly any "cure" even though I have 1st hand experience in at least what I would call.."semi-cures." Will power or mental focus has been proven to accelerate healing or heal where no other traditional medical intervention has been of benefit. I am far more skeptical of this than I am of any vitamin, mineral or herbal combination. One perfect example I can give is the person who, for 20 years needed alka seltzer with each meal to calm his digestion. Of course eating alka seltzer does restrict the assimilation of nutrients since it also stops the acid involvement in the digestive process. He was "cured" of this need by taking Betaine HCL with meals. Not only did he not suffer indigestion again, he did not stop the digestive process and actually enhanced it by adding Hydocloric acid to his stomach which allowed higher assimilation of needed vitamins and minerals. His hair improved, the longitudinal lines on his fingernails vanished and his breath improved dramatically...hehehee! This is not magic or a cure or even an alternative. It is like you have pointed out, the correct diagnosis and the proper treatment. All of his traditional practitioners simply said to take anything over the counter for indigestion as their presumption that he had EXCESS stomach acid, when in fact he was lacking stomach acid and the indigestion was the churning of his gut from not being able to empty in a timely fashion. Quality control of these products has always been a problem. Like any other marketable item, if you make it on the cheap and still sell it for a large profit, why make it as good as it can be? I think this is bullshit, but it happens in many manufacturing processes. In this arena, it is dangerous. I would caution buying products from most mail order places. I typically use www.lef.org as my store. There is not a cure for diabetes in the alternative medicine scene, but there are many items that either enhance the absorption of insulin or reduce the oxidative process of the body which reduces the stress on the diabetic body. Personally, I think that a traditional MD that is willing to investigate possible vit/min/herbal protocols for diabetes is working harder for you than one that does nothing other than prescribe insulin.
