Ron Insana made the same point yesterday on BubbleVision, including a nice release from Jack in the Box indicating their profits would be down "citing economic uncertainty and a decline in sales following the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon." What a crock! People are too scared to go to the local drive through and pick up some sliders and a sack of spuds?! Yet that's the fraud that companies left and right are gonna try and foist on the American bagholder/investors:

As they might say in Pulp Fiction:

<<Equity Residential Will Not Meet Forecast
CHICAGO (Reuters) - Apartment building owner and operator Equity Residential Properties Trust (NYSE:EQR - news) said Tuesday that it will not meet previous financial expectations for the fourth quarter and 2002 due to the U.S. economy.

But the real estate investment trust did not say what financial results it does expect..

``There is no road map for the environment in which we are currently operating,'' said Douglas Crocker II, Equity Residential's President and CEO. ``It will take time to determine what the effects of the Sept. 11th tragedy will have on the nation, our industry and our company.''>>
