'I hate to admit it' ... why? ... but maybe i understand a little - when first beginning to play tech stocks hard around '97, i used to mutter to myself 'they have zero ounces proven in the ground, and look how these suckers me included are bidding them up' ... like that .... prejudices from our formative years likely eh - my first stock ever was a small copper producer, undervalued already on a cash flow basis and then the price of copper doubled, hoo-hah i got a four-bagger even though i sold too soon

Partly it's geography too, living in Canada a long time, and Toronto has been pretty much the world capital of mining finance much of that time ... likely a higher percentage of canadian players are tuned to the prices of gold and other metals ... also a lot of the best and highest-leverage vehicles for playing the cycles are listed only on canadian exchanges, where US players get lousy service for outrageous commissions due to US state and federal regulations ... here's a post by the guy who came along last December and energised the G&SMS thread, i hold near half of the tickers he mentions here - Message 16436853
... these are the survivors of the metals bear, in the last bull there were lots of tulip plays like there are in any sector bull, but they're gone now, and what's left has a hard time getting new financing at the moment but will survive through to better days, with in most of these cases serious reserves ... example - bay.to, está podrido en plata, currently in the deceptively boring feasibility study stage, but the first two years of production will have a cash cost of 1.50/oz roughly ... estado de Sonora - biz.yahoo.com
