if we extrapolate 1.5 GHz palomino by adding 10 percent to performance, vs a similarly priced 2.0 Ghz P4 on sdram extrapolated downwards 35% or so in performance, I think you'll find an excellent definition for "kicking the living sh*t."

1.4GHz is about on par or a little under P4 2GHz in those tests on average. But the tests are made on the slowest socket-A DDR platform : KT-266.

XP 1.53GHz + nForce or KT266A will easily outpace a P4 2GHz on average. From HOCP a7v review, made on the 25th of July, we see that they got an Athlon MP to 1.64 GHz. Maybe AMD will ramp the XP faster than we think to 1.733GHz. At that point AMD can keep up with P4 up to 2.4-2.5 without looking too bad (which means about on par with P4 on average); the model number will be 2100+.

T, Re: hardocp.com

You like Winstone? What about these?

Looks like the Athlon 1.4GHz performs lower than the 2GHz Pentium 4.

But feel free to do your extrapolations on these. One processor is kicking the living sh*t out of the other, but it's not the one you think.
