The 30-day rolling average price of 128Mb DRAMs (PC133, 16 x 8) for large-volume users declined to under the US$2 level in three major regions: North America, Europe and Asia. As the price of Intel Corp.'s Pentium 4 microprocessor for PCs dropped dramatically, its demand increased. At the same time the supply of synchronous DRAM chipset was insufficient. This triggered the increase in demand for Direct RDRAM chipsets. According to the worldwide survey of DRAM prices by ICIS-LOR, an information service company based in London, Houston and Singapore, the rolling average prices of 128Mb DRAMs (PC133, 16M x 8) for the 30-day period ending on Sept. 14 (Aug. 16-Sept. 14) for large-volume users was US$1.76 for North America, US$1.90 for Europe, and US$1.85 for Asia. In comparison with the previous week (the 30-day rolling average ending on Sep. 7), the figures represent a decrease of 6.33 percent for North America, a decrease of 7.54 percent for Europe, and a decrease of 6.88 percent for Asia. As for the prices of memory modules, the spot prices for 128MB DIMMs (PC133) fell from the previous week by 2.15 percent to US$12.48 in North America, and also fell by 2.23 percent to US$13.03 in Europe, and were down by 0.60 percent to US$12.36 in Asia.
