The Clock Run's at 2Ghz the effective IPC is less than that.

I didn't bring up the subject or post the section of the California code but it does seem to fit. It seems pretty clear there is an intent to mislead if not outright defraud. And conspiracy to defraud is a crime as well...

PS: from your previous Tualatin FUD, I expected a bit more, something like SSE2.

Still, Tualatin is a fine processor, especially the rare 512K L2 version, although not very interesting to DIY crowd, because of lack of continuity (doesn't work with current motherboards, new motherboards are a dead end already). I think it will be popular in corporate market.

This is such a classic case of F.U.D. it hurts.

(is the P in "EP" still short for Phud?)

PR ratings have been done plenty of times before.

AMD is not claiming the processor runs at a higher frequency than it actually does, they have simply decided not to supply the operating frequency, but rather a model number to more easily allow the customers to gauge the performance.

As long as they don't stick a "MHz" on their Model #s, AMD is untouchable on this.
