The US recognizes Taiwan is part of China -- they are one and the same country -- didn't you get the memo? Something about the "one China" policy.

>> Why does china keep interfering in the internal economic relationship between Taiwan and the US? << well china is kind of belligerent. they want to force re-unification with taiwan. all i know is our policy has not been consistent. at one time carter and nixon recognized taiwan as a part of mainland china, now we offer support in taiwan's defense. i don't know enough of the situation to decide what policy is best, but i do know that it's not in both of our interests to go to war over taiwan.
