This concept of making a "martyr" of one's child is an oxymoron -- martyrdom usually calls for choice by the one giving up his life. Are these children making choices? Obviously not. They're just children. Where does the Koran provide for a parent "martyring" a child? This act is more like ancient -- and now extinct -- South American civilizations that made human child sacrifices to the Gods, cutting out their organs on a stone sacrificial alter. To imbue it with anything more civilized is to give it a false legitimacy. It's barbaric.
