Good graph showing how the PE of the Nasdaq got completely out of control. A bubble formed during the last years of the Clinton administration. I'm not going to get into why the bubble existed, or what should have been done to avoid it. But, I will say this. When a bubble bursts, as it did in the last year of Clinton's presidency, there is only one result.

A complete and total collapse of the bubble equities and the resulting drag on the economy.

There is NOTHING that can be done to stop it. A 70 - 90% correction is unavoidable. The Nasdaq has fallen 70%, so maybe we are close. If that's as far as it falls, we can all thank our lucky stars.

Bush had nothing to do with the bubble and he has nothing to do with the collapse.

If actions by this administration and the fed can keep the fall from going much further, it will be a heroic accomplishment. No blame can be placed on them, just as no blame can be placed on the firemen that reported to the World Trade Center. They didn't start the fire and they never could have stopped the collapse. They were heroic for saving as many people as they did.

IMO,
Dave
