Sir Real,

Enjoy your posts. As for the intersection he can hole himself and his boys up, all he wants, but he won’t escape whole...this seems to be the opposite of the strategy used to defeat the Soviets. I’m a little skeptical myself but it’s justa hunch. He has spanked Mom and Dad, and the world is aghast, but we can hit hard too, harder then this scum. If he is in his bunker I hope he kills himself like Hitler did.

And is there the least irony in the idea...
The irony is wrenching, the results retching. I live and work a few blocks away from what is now called The Frozen Zone (ground zero). Sorry to sound so cynical...you made such a valiant attempt to make sense of it all, but the only thing missing was the money...from an official DoD site

Big Business Are Us

Our track record

With our military units tracing their roots to pre-Revolutionary times, you might say that we are America’s oldest company. And if you look at us in business terms, many would say we are not only America’s largest company, but its busiest and most successful.

There is no other company in the world that can take a group of new employees, from a wide variety of backgrounds, and in less than three months make them part of a cohesive, organized and productive work team. They will be well trained, highly motivated and very fit. They will treat others with dignity and respect, and will willingly obey their leaders.

In the light of current events, this “angle” just seemed kinda surreal. The Bubble has Burst and Head Office just got hit.

Political expedience will never solve this. The ony hope for real peace is that all people desire it, until then we have war. Chances of this happening...slim to none. Oil and opium, drugs, money and God are a deadly dose. Everyone’s just got to stop shooting up this shit. It is a righteous and unholy mess. Yesterday was a public holiday in India, Mahatma Ghandi’s birthday.. death in Kashmir is a terrible tribute.

In a similar vein to...we have to claim, with a straight face, that Bin Ladin is the lunatic? I came across this:

This is a post from a CNN message board: Orion Ramsey - Friday,

>>To those extremists that perpetrated this crime against our nation, I have a warning for you. There are those of us who look at your actions as irrational, twisted, and completely inhuman. By all measures, what you have done can only be seen as insane. I have news for you. We're more nuts than you, and it should scare you s***less.

>>You may think that when you die for your cause, you go to Paradise with 72 virgins, can leave reservations for 70 members of your family, all your sins are forgiven, and you sit at the side of Allah. Big deal. We had 39 guys who rented a Beverly Hills mansion, cut off their nuts, built a web site, and proceeded to poison themselves to death to hitch a ride with aliens out on the Hale-Bopp comet.
that's probably the best of it, fwiw the rest of it is here: interesting-people.org

Thanks to all for for the input here...good stuff.

And is there the least irony ...
Ironic indeed, though I began getting a headache just before the part where we armed the Shah. I suspect we could trace the roots of the current situation back to the 1930s and Standard Oil. Without the oil, WWII might have bypassed the region, and the Arab-Israeli conflict might have an importance commensurate with the Northern Ireland situation. Given what we have inherited, however, a cultural war seems unavoidable.

Oh, neutron weapons have minimal lethal clouds, but I would only use them against well-defined targets (if such exist and can be identified) to save American lives.
