He gave him his due and said he would take a second, and possibly, third, look at his larger policy recommendations. Sounds wise to me. As for your slam at teboy's profession, that was a cheap shot. hi John, i don't know much about grace...it is not my usual style but here goes...if tekboy was in anyway personally offended by my post, i offer my sincerest apology. i consider tekboy a close cyber friend...he has been quite helpful to me in visualizing a number of different issues for quite some time...i read his posts...i pm him...he pms me. i expect all of that to continue...but i realize that you are correct and i did dig at him...that is something we tend to do at our usual meeting place. but i want to assure you, everyone else, and especially tekboy that there was not an iota of personal animosity intended...i was merely continuing the conversation in my blunt way and absolutely no personal offense was intended. as far as Hack goes...he represents an easy target for wonks because he has a recently voiced opinion...but hell forget about the medals...the guy joined the army at 15, served 8 years in combat...was wounded 8 times...made full Colonel and was on a fast track to commanding general when he resigned because he correctly judged, the wonks had put us in a losing situation in RVN and he recognized it early. since then he has been a wonderful beacon of honesty about the state of our military and the problems and unnecessary suffered casualties involved in fulfilling wonk induced missions with limited training, inadequate equipment and poorly conceived operations. this type of experience and insight is extremely rare...imo we need to pay close attention to the guys who get it right. the ultimate 60's wonk was Mc Namara...he gets tons of respect still...yet it was his flawed policies that screwed the military and RVN. Hack has blood on his hands but it is his own and the blood of America's enemies shed in battle...guys like Mc namara have blood on their hands but it is the blood of American soldiers... following his dumb orders. we had a similar SecDEf recently named Aspin. imo we need wonks, we need our military experienced advisors too. it is old school and a favorite wonk tactic to shoot down the military for every mistake our govt makes...the military takes hits from wonks from the CIA, DIA, congress and a zillion other sources... posting that Hack's voice lacks depth without example seemed unseemly to me and just another loose shot at the military...in the context of an article that Hack did not author, it seemed quite unfair and biased. that is the reason i fired a loud gun. unclewest tb...hang loose
