If the U.S. would develop the methane deposits that are offshore, we wouldn't need one drop of arab oil, ever again.

By the time they ran out, either civilization would have perfected alternative methods, or be gone. There's probably 1000 of years of supply down there.

Hitler threatened the world with his war weapon, the Arab nations threaten the world with their oil weapon.

Actually, if you want to make an analogy with an oil embargo - the U.S. out an oil embargo on Japan in 1941, which was one of the precipitating events leading to Pearl Harbor.
