Pete, you keep changing your story. One moment you claimed that no cluster of the P4 could possibly be running at 2x the speed. Then you claim that the 2x cluster can only handle one instruction every 1.5 clocks. Now you're saying that the pipeline is unbalanced, that the 2x cluster doesn't matter because the back-end can't retire as many instructions as the execution units can (theoretically) handle.
