It seems to me that a sentence or two of the President was taken to mean a similar capitulation during the China crisis.

When you are about to kick the crap out of a lot folks saying words that just acknowledge a reality of reasonable men is not a problem. I have no fear that the President knows who are reasonable men and who are not.

The President has to give the Taliban a totally unacceptable way to get out of their problem. His statement is words has little meaning except for those with a vivid imagination.

Only problem is that Bin Laden does not give a rats @ss about Palestine. His only concern with that locale is the Al-Aqsa mosque. He wants it to be controled by an Islamic government (Something unlikely from Arafat btw)

He will gladly make friends with anybody, incuding Hamas and Islamic Jihad to that end, which often confuses the issue around Bin Laden.

The issue I do admit is a bit annoying. I do think the timing is ill advised.
