Combjelly - Any near term implmentation will be in the tens of billions range not trillions. It would help the research because we would have actual systems to develop and evaluate rather then just a single missle being shot from a single site at a single target.

I don't think we should try to deploy anything against strategic missiles in this year or next. The technology isn't ready yet. But I'd like to see atleast a basic system being starting deployment by 2004 to 2007 and an extensive system fully operational between 10 to 20 years after that.
