I think the F word is about the only SI TOU thing that gets any consistent enforcement anymore. SI used to take privacy matters seriously too, but that is no longer the case.

It's all a joke. I have expressed my opinion of SI's admins and their obscurely arbitrary enforcement policies on other occasions, suffice it to say it is not favorable. Rest assured it wasn't me who brought tcmay to their attention, I just happened to notice the telltale deletion.

Some SI posters enjoy the taunt and tattle game, even to the point of bragging about past successes. Somewhat oddly, I believe somebody who favors the particular taunt often sent in my direction you refer to is among them.

Why is "idi*t" apparently okay to use, but not the F-word? I think the former is worse than the later and I think calling Win, Winnie, is worse than saying the F-word.

Let's be clear here, I called him "My good friend Winnie". Hardly an insulting tone, but I digress...

You think calling him Winnie is worse than using the F word? I am continually amazed by your reasoning(?).

It also appears SI arbitrarily jumps in. I'm not saying SI is arbitrarily, but I am saying that SI may give the incorrect impression of being arbitrary, only because the rules are not clear.

I believe 2 things are at work here. #1 is that SI has a screened for obscene words, and #2 someone (not I) complained to the webmaster.

People are entitled to their expression of opinion, so should not be banned.

Mark this day! We finally agree on something!

Amy-- Re: reply post contained a partial copy of Tim's deleted post and it showed it had the F-word in it

He didn't merely use an expletive that rhymes with suck-- he told the person to whom he was posting to "**** [himself] and die." This crosses the threshold from illustrative adjective to what could be termed verbal assault.
